Fish Passage Restoration and Habitat Enhancement

Fish Passage Restoration and Habitat Enhancement

This project will implement in-stream restoration and fish passage remediation actions identified from both watercourse crossing assessments conducted since 2010, as well as from sub-watershed management plans. Restoration actions will include 10 installed structures such as digger logs, deflectors, etc. to enhance in-stream habitat quality in targeted sub-watersheds. Fish passage remediation   at 10 crossingswill be conducted using techniques such as debris removals, the installation of tailwater control structures, baffle remediation/installation, low-flow barriers, and/or fish chutes in areas with identified aquatic connectivity issues. Additional fish habitat data will be collected in collaboration with members of the Bear River First Nation (BRFN) using Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) surveys.
